Here I Lay Partial Awake

Here I lay partial awake
Floating atop sleep's lake.
With eyes heavy and mind adrift
My veil of reality begins to lift.

I hear men and women scream
Is this reality or a dream?
What is that in the corner,
A demon or angelic mourner?

There it is at the end of my bed
With eyes black and tears red.
Now she's over me, mouth wide
Her breath stinks of death and her skin a hide.

I awake with a fright
And look around with blurry sight.
I'm sure there's something
But there's nothing.

I lay my head back down to sleep
In a blanketed heap.
I let out a fearful gasp
When I hear and feel a disgusting rasp.

Sincerely,
Sigmund Creed
